What is Caregiver Burnout, and how you can prevent it

Updated: Apr 18, 2022

Caregiver Burnout is unfortunately extremely common, but it shouldn't have to be. Most people experiencing caregiver burnout don't even realize it's occurring. Fortunately, there's some warning signs to look out for.

  • Feelings of depression and anxiety

  • Withdrawing from family and friends

  • Losing Interest in things they once loved

  • Feeling sad for no reason

  • Feeling overwhelmed, or like you just want to give up

  • Increased fatigue

  • Sleeping too much or too little

  • Increased irritability and mood changes

  • Unintentional neglect, such as ignoring simple requests that you used to be happy to do

How to Prevent Caregiver Burnout

  • Make time for the things you love

  • Talk to someone about how you feel

  • Join a support group

  • Stay physically active and eat healthy

  • Reach out for family and friends for help

  • Consider respite care

Fortunately, there are many different options to help prevent caregiver burnout. We offer respite care services, which can be a few hours a day, or one day or a week. Alternatively, we can offer a part time or full time schedule, so you can make more time for the things you enjoy. We understand that sometimes it may be hard to ask a stranger to come into your home and help someone you love. Rest assured, our caregivers come with clean background checks, and you have the option for a "trial period" with our caregiver to see if they're a good fit, before we ask you for any commitment or contracts.
